Hey there! Hope you guys have been doing well! It has been getting nice outside where I'm at, so my family and I have been spending some more time outside. I'm getting this newsletter right now written while sitting outside so that's great. Besides that, I just started the final part of my doctorate (this part lasts about a year), and that has been pretty exciting. Besides that been working on some side projects that I'm hoping to start releasing in the next week or so. I am super busy with all my various ambitions!
I hope you guys have been keeping up with your many different aspirations of improvements that you are looking to do!
Carrying All This Tech
Recently, I went to a wedding that required me and my significant other to leave the house for a couple of days. What comes along with a trip like that? Lugging all my tech with me. And this had me start to think. Am I carrying around too much tech?
While the trip itself didn't add anything extra for me to carry out of the ordinary, it did make me think about what I carry along every day. At any point of any given day, you can find in my pockets 3 cell phones (iPhone 15 Pro Max, Pixel Fold, and Samsung Z Fold5), as well as 3 corresponding versions of headphones. Whenever it is time for me to leave the house, it is me loading up my pockets to make sure that I didn't forget anything.
Now you may say, why are you bringing all of this? It has been heard of individuals having two phones, but three is kind of out of the ordinary. I love technology and love smartphones so that is the big reason behind it, but I'd be lying if I didn't say it made my life a little complicated. At times it has come in handy, but at other times, yes I can even admit, it does become a hassle.
Personally, while I do think it is a hassle, if it is improving my lifestyle in any shape or form then I think it is okay. I think when you get in situations like this, you need to weigh the pros and cons of what you are doing. Is the hassle of the lifestyle that I am forcing on myself worth the benefits of it? This can be applied to many things ranging from what phone are you carrying to even what decision you are making in your day job. Nothing comes for free, so you need to constantly outweigh the pros and cons all the time. It is tiring, but it does become a bit rewarding.
Now, I know you may be thinking okay, I get the point of this. Yes, it is good to outweigh the pros and cons, but 1) are you carrying too much tech and 2) what do you use all your phones for? Yeah, I'm carrying a lot of tech. I've been getting more selective about when I carry the headphones with me. If I am going somewhere where headphones won't be useful, I don't take them with me.
As for the phones, the iPhone is my main device. The Pixel phone I use to take in content whether it is reading or watching media. The Samsung device has replaced my pocket notebook with its pen functionality. Do I need these devices? No, but I enjoy them and have found a purpose for them. The hassle of carrying all of them has felt worth it.
How about you? Do you do anything that seems like a hassle, but may be worth it?
