Hey there! How are you guys doing? It is getting colder and colder out here in PA, so I've been staying in more and more. I'm not someone who enjoys the cold so the colder it gets, the less likely I am to want to go outside haha I'm a home body so when there are barriers that come into play, I don't try to break through them all the time and stay home a good bit. What about you guys? Do you guys like being out and about?
Something that I have been thinking about recently is how important are hobbies for your mental health. If you know me personally, I'm someone who loves to keep working. I am somewhat known as. A bit of a workaholic. I'm in the lucky position where I love tech and get to work with it every day, so that is something that allows me to keep doing what I'm doing, however, there is a line to it of course like everything else. Sometimes, I do run myself a little ragged with work, school, and all the professional-related side hobbies like running this newsletter.
Because of this, I found it super important to try to start doing a hobby that will help me in the long run decompress from the daily grind and pursue constantly achieving things professionally. For me, that hobby was streaming. Now, I know what you are saying, "Sean, you are doing all this tech content creation stuff on the side, doesn't streaming fall into that same category?" I won't deny, that it probably does. It isn't that far from what I'm doing, but something like being able to play a video game instead of driving technology content is a bit of a break for me.
Now, I have just started doing it again and it has become something that I look forward to weekly. I can already see the benefits of me being more productive to try and get my work done in time so that I can do this regularly. It is also something that is allowing me to decompress and my stress level has decreased. So far, I would say that I would recommend that you make sure to make room for a hobby of yours. Especially if you find yourself super stressed. Finding this task that may help your mental well-being might be exactly what you need.
