Multitasking and Productivity on Your Smartphone
Hello, hello! Happy Apple Event Week!
Welcome to the next entry in my newsletter! This week I wanted to talk about my thoughts on multitasking on smartphones and just the different ways people utilize their devices for productivity.
With the wave of all these foldable and productivity devices becoming more and more mainstream, one of the big selling points that people bring up about these devices is that they can multitask on all of them. I always see the tweets and comments about how you can do so much stuff once on the devices at once and it makes me wonder, is that practical?
For example, people say that you can have your email, task lists, and notes app up all at the same time. How often are you opening up all these applications at once? I guess it comes down to what happens when you close the device. Do all the apps inside close?
I would say that I'm a productivity user on my device and try to get a lot of things done always on this device. I loaded up both of my devices with task management apps, use the calendar pretty regularly and always try to get everything automated and notifying me of what is going on at all times. So the idea of multitasking and having all the apps opened at once sounds like a good idea, but in practice, I’m not sure.
I guess without having one of these devices and using them myself, it is hard to know exactly how I would utilize it. I recently responded to a tweet asking this and I got a wave of people saying that they do use the device just like that so those users are out there. I just can't imagine myself being one of those users. Only time will tell! I've been holding out for a Pixel or Apple foldable.
