Update
Hello there! Hope all of you have been doing well! We are already one month into the new year! Hopefully, you are all pushing for your goals and getting some stuff done. I know that I have been trying to get some stuff done. Falling a little behind in some things, but also accomplishing a bunch in some other areas.
On the dev parts, I have gotten pretty close to finishing the Front-End Development course on Coursera. At the time of writing this, I'm almost done with the final course, Coding Interview Preparation. When you guys get this, I'm either already done or about to be done with the full course. I'm excited to start to plan and utilize some of these skills and grow in my career. As being super close to being done with that, I've started to create some projects using the skills I learned and the first one that I completed was my "Link Tree" clone that I have for all my socials. I created that one before with just some HTML/CSS, but I have updated it now and used React instead! I've come to like React.
The next thing that I'll be working on course-wise will be finishing up the Android/iOS Development tracks. I'm about halfway through both of those. Mobile development wants I want to eventually get to do it one day, but I just love developing in general. Building something from scratch on the computer is just such a fun task for me.
I've also been cleaning my Github page with my project descriptions. I never really took care of that and figured I should probably start documenting that stuff better. If you are someone that doesn't take care of that stuff, I'd suggest you start haha.
Last, but not least I'm on Mastodon! I'm not sure how much I'm going to be active on first, it is a bit of a different experience with who is on there. Twitter will still be my defacto, but this is just another spot that you can find me on. You can find the link to it on my newly created links page below.
Alright, time to talk about this week's topic! Hope you guys are having a wonderful week and achieving all your goals!

Dreams
So with the advancement of working on yourself and your passions, sometimes you don't always achieve what you are looking to achieve in the method and timeframe that you set yourself out to do it. This could be that you put too much on your plate and it was impossible to meet these goals or that life just happens and it has delayed you a bit. Either way, these things can sometimes stop you from reaching your goal and your dreams. Sometimes you come into the way of achieving your goals because you fear failing. These feelings make it so that you are afraid to even try to go for your dreams!
No one wants to fail, so being fearful when these things come up is completely understandable. It isn't a great feeling when these things happen, so trying to avoid them at all costs is something that a lot of people do…but you can't let them stop you from achieving the things that will make you happy. I have been afraid of achieving some of my dreams. Sometimes this fear completely paralyzes you and you just accept the situation that you are in, but in the last couple of months, I've realized that I need to just go for them. Taking that leap and trying to achieve the many things that I want to do.
That is just the first step, however. One of the hardest steps, but one you must take.
Once, I made that jump, here are things that have helped me stay on track to achieve those goals.
Planning. Planning sounds like something that seems like it won't help your goal at first, but it helps immensely to keep yourself organized. The minute I started to plan out things that I need to do and try to stick to that plan, the way more manageable my goals have become. The thing with planning is that you can give yourself tasks so instead of trying to just achieve the last goal, you try to achieve these smaller tasks, and then it makes everything much easier.
This leads us to the 2nd thing that helped me: making realistic milestones. Let's say that you wanted to become a Senior Developer and have no level of development experience. You can't put on a list and say, yeah I want to be a Senior Developer and expect to go straight to that. You need to set some realistic milestones. In this example, I would say that you should try to plan out the steps that you would take to get to that level, in this case, the different levels of developers (Junior, Mid, Senior). Once you have that, you may be even able to narrow down even smaller to what are the steps that you need to reach to become a Junior Level developer. And once you have reached this level then you move on to the next thing and that will make everything more and more achievable.
After those two things, it came down to needing to put the extra work in. Sometimes the goals that we are looking to achieve need extra time. Sometimes you have to put the extra hours in to achieve something great. If this is your dream, you should be willing to want to put all your effort into this so that you can reach that goal. Without the extra effort, likely, you won't be able to get the skills that you are looking for and get the result. Nothing worth having comes easy.
Now, here comes the tough truth. Just because you do all this stuff and do the right thing, that doesn't mean you will achieve the goal. The reality of it is that some people will never achieve their goals. But if you try and you go for it and give it your all, it does empower you to 1) know that you did your best and should be proud of yourself and 2) you will not have any regrets later in life. You will not sit there and think what ifs and if you should have ever tried it. You will know the answer and be able to have peace with the result eventually.
Don't be afraid to fail. There will be some bumps in the road. But have faith in yourself and keep pushing to hopefully one day achieve everything that you dream of. I hope this helped and you will one day go out and try to achieve all the things that you want to achieve.
